two cute photos from last weekend

Last weekend while Ashley and Michael were here visiting, I took a few pictures. I think these are probably the cutest two:

ideas?

Look what my mom-in-law sent me:

Aren’t they great? They’re glass milk bottles. On the front is written South Side Dairy, Butte, Mont., Phone 792-5277; the back reads Homogenized, Pasturized, Milk.

Two of them have a price of 65 cents written on them. I don’t know if that was the original price, or if my mom-in-law picked them up at a shop where someone (negligently) wrote on the cork bottle stopper.

I could really use some suggestions as to what I can do with these wonderful bottles. They’re half-gallon size, but they’re pretty narrow at the top. Getting things into them may be a challenge, but I can try.

Now I need to wash them and set them out to dry. And I need to fold baby laundry ~ but that’s another subject altogether…

please re-subscribe

I posted about this a few days ago, but I’ve been getting emails about my blog not coming through on some readers people are using to read their favorite blogs, so I think I’ll re-post about it.

When I moved my blog from Blogger to WordPress, the feed got messed up for some reason. I’ve posted a couple of subscription choices in the right hand sidebar, and the RSS button in the nav bar is working correctly now. So if you aren’t getting the feed for my blog on your reader, would you please re-subscribe?

Just use one of the subscription options or the RSS option ~ it’s quick and easy, and you’ll be re-subscribed in a heart beat. :)

feeds

If you have been using Bloglines or Feedburner (or any other reader/feed service) to read my blog, you may have noticed there have been a few problems lately. Since I moved from Blogger to a self-hosted WordPress platform, Feedburner has been a little behind.

Would you mind re-activating your subscription to A Joyful Heart? It’s easy enough to do. Just look in the left-hand sidebar for the Bloglines or Feedburner email options. Or you can click on the “subscribe to my RSS” link at the bottom of any post.

The RSS button in the nav bar is currently down, but I’ll get it working just as soon as I can!

If you would like to see A Joyful Heart offered in a different news/feed reader, just let me know. I’ll be happy to set it up! (use the contact link in the navagation bar )

moved!

Thanks for stopping by Books & Book Reviews. I’ve consolidated all of my blogs into one which you will find here. Stop by A Joyful Heart to read my latest book reviews and posts!

My blog may look a little wonky for a while ~ I’m working on changing the template. Please be patient ~ I’ll finish it as quickly as I can!

blogher ads

I’m wondering, what do other people think about BlogHer ads on blogs? I bounce back and forth between thinking it might be a good way to make a small bit of change each month (hey, I’ll never pass up the chance to passively make enough change to get a vanilla breve at Starbucks!) to thinking that really, it’s kind of rude. Sort of like, “Oh, well, yes ~ I write on my blog for my own enjoyment, as well as to document the things my family does and to help keep my family and friends informed. I hope occasionally I entertain a few people too. And by the way, if you’ll just click on that ad in the sidebar so I can make a little bit of money ~ you know, maybe just enough for a couple of drinks at Starbucks each month ~ I’d really appreciate it.” In some ways it’s almost like being invited to a friend’s house for dinner after which they give you a direct sales business pitch!

I’m not trying to insult anyone here. Please don’t take it that way. This is something I’m wrestling with, and I would really love input from you. I’m considering putting the BlogHer ad on my new template (I’ve already been approved, just need to decide if I’m going to take BlogHer up on the offer or not).

So tell me, what do you think when you go to someone’s personal blog and see that BlogHer ad in the sidebar “above the fold”?

time for a change?

I’ve got the “bug” to change the look of my blog again…I’m contemplating whether I should do it myself or pay a reasonable price to have someone else create a design for me…paying someone who knows what they’re doing is SO much easier…but I have some of the cutest graphics…hmmm…

keep praying

Thank you all so much for the comments and emails letting me know you’re praying for our family. You have touched my heart in a way that only God could do through others. I (we) appreciate your continued prayers.

I apologize if it seems I’m being cryptic or secretive. That is not my intention at all. I’m hoping in the coming days to be able to write out the full story and share it with you. I am comforted to know that God knows our story (our whole story, all the way to the end, because He wrote it), and He knows exactly what you’re praying about when you pray for us.

I have been encouraged by your words, and I thank you all for them. Please continue to pray for us!

your prayers

Right now our family is going through some very difficult trials. I covet your prayers for us. Because these are family issues, I am not comfortable going into details here on my blog. But I do desperately want your prayers ~ when you think of it, if the Lord brings us to your mind, please pray for us. I sincerely do appreciate it.
